Dividing Polynomials

 When you are dividing (x-a) into P(x) the remainder of the quotient polynomial is the value of P(a). 

Step 1: Write out the coefficients of the dividend. (Use 0 as a coefficient for missing terms)

Step 2: Put the value of 'a' of the divisor in the uper left hand corner and box it.

Step 3: Under a horizontal bar, bring down the first coefficient.

Step 4: Multiply the first coefficient by the divison. Write the product under the next coefficient, Add the numbers in the new column.

Step 5: The boxed number is the answer of the equation.
